Sutter Basin Calls Pro Staff
My Pro staff team has waterfowl hunting on their minds 24/7, 365! Each one of these Pro staff members is a top drawer, hard working waterfowler who hunts an average of 40 to over 100 days per season. I'm proud and honored to have all of them on my team. Their passion for ducks and geese has lead them all over North America, from Washington State south to duck rich California, from Canada to the Dakotas, Nebraska, and Iowa. My team has even chased the white goose spring migration in Missouri.
Please take a few moments to read the short biographies below and get to know each of these pros. Individually and collectively, they possess a huge amount of waterfowling knowledge. Whether it's calling birds, product line information, or most any other aspect of our sport, chances are one of them can help you. Feel free to contact any of them by email (Pro-staff @SutterBasinDuckCalls.com) or to speak with them directly at the many trade shows and fundraising events we participate in. The team will gladly try to answer any of your questions.
Thanks for your interest in Sutter Basin Duck Calls!!

 Andy Bauer Email |
Andy Bauer was born in Roseville, California. Like many of us, he was introduced to hunting and fishing by his parents and grew up chasing upland and big game in California and Wyoming. As a kid, Andy walked much of south Sutter County in California's central valley looking for ring neck pheasants. During this time, he couldn't help but notice the abundant waterfowl that often filled the sky. His curiosity about the waterfowl lead him to his first duck hunt at the age of 12. A successful outing at the Delevan Wildlife Refuge was all it took to cement his passion for waterfowl for life. Andy spent the next many years learning how to hunt the refuge system and the rice fields that cover the central valley area. Today, Andy works at the Sportsman's Warehouse in Rocklin, California and continues his hunting passion across California, Wyoming, and Canada. |

 Mark Farley Email |
Mark was born in Redwood City, California and at an early age his family moved to Gridley, California where he residues today. Mark's first close hand introduction to waterfowl came on a school field trip to the Gray Lodge Wildlife Refuge located just outside of Gridley. On this trip Mark learned about the sport of waterfowling and shortly thereafter passed his hunter safety course at the young age of 10. Mark's first duck hunt was the same year. However, it wasn't until the following year that Mark killed his first duck. From that point on Mark has been an avid duck and goose hunter. During his early teen years, Mark took up calling ducks and geese. Today Mark is a proven and very polished duck and goose caller. Mark primarily hunting area is the Upper Butte basin near Gridley but, he also finds himself hunting in Oregon and the northeastern California for both Mallards and Honkers. Mark hunts about 80 plus days a year and is the owner and co-operator of Fowl Intentions Guide Service. Teaming with fellow Pro-staffer Corey West, Fowl Intentions Guide Service specializes in dry field speck and snow hunts. Mark has been a member of the Sutter Basin Team since early 2009 and enjoys spending time in the field with his 8 year old son. Mark is our "go to" Pro-staff when it comes to advice on speck hunting and calling. |

 James Rogers Email |
James Rogers grew up in California's rice country in the Sacramento Valley. This is where his obsession with waterfowling first started. James' fondest childhood memories are the times he spent with his younger brother and dad working harvested fields for huge flocks of specks. In time, his focus changed to pursuit of giant honkers!
Now living in north eastern California he spends the off season working on his family's hay and grain ranch. On the down side, working as a farmer is very hectic during the spring and summer months. On the up side, with crops harvested James spends all fall and winter chasing after waterfowl. Given his current residence, James has the good fortune of having both giant Canadas and greenheads as his primary target. James also extends his hunting to include much of Oregon, northern California and even Minnesota. But, James still finds time to hunt his old stomping grounds in the Sacramento valley. James currently owns and operates his own waterfowling guide service appropriately called "Bring 'Em Down". |

 James Stone Email |
James Stone was born and raised in and around Concord in northern California. James was introduced to waterfowling as a teenager and took advantage of his near proximity to California's central valley refuge system to learn the sport. After finishing high school, James moved to Sacramento where he attended the California State University and graduated with a bachelor's degree. Not by accident, attending school in Sacramento placed James within a short drive to heart of the pacific flyway. He took full advantage of this and began hunting waterfowl in flooded rice fields. He eventually expanded his "repertoire" to include hunting the Sacramento Delta from a duck boat and dry grain field hunting over full body decoys. James currently hunts 5 different rice properties and the Sacramento Delta as well as taking regular trips to Nevada, Missouri, and the Oregon/California Klamath Basin. James also loves to hunt deer, pigs, antelope, turkeys and doves. |

 Corey West Email |
Corey grew up in the Sacramento valley and started his hunting career at an early age. When he turned 18 the lure of waterfowling took hold and soon became his passion. Once introduced to decoying specks and Canada geese, his focus began to shift from ducks to geese. Corey now lives in southern Oregon and spends spring through early fall working the rice fields of the Sacramento valley. After the harvest is finished, you'll find Corey hunting the migration all over the Sacramento valley and further north through southern Oregon and up into the Portland area. Corey is a hardcore waterfowler who logs over 100 hunt days per year with about 80% of his time spent on White front and Canada geese. Corey teams with fellow Pro-staffer Mark Farley to operate the "Fowl Intentions" guide service headquartered in Gridley, California. It's no surprise that Corey and Mark specialize in calling and decoying White front geese. Corey also keeps an eye on the future of our sport by taking his four young children into the field whenever he can. In addition to waterfowling, Corey bow hunts for deer, elk and turkeys. |

 Kyle Kaufmann Email |
Kyle was born in San Francisco and moved to Yuba City when he was three. Some of his earliest memories are hunting and holding a duck call with his father. It's no wonder that he developed a love for all things outdoors at a young age. Several years later, Kyle got his hunting license and began his formal duck hunting career at age 12. Kyle took advantage of his proximity to many of California's finest waterfowl refuges and became a devotee of Gray Lodge, Little Dry Creek and Delevan. He even worked for a while at Gray Lodge and used the time to develop an intimate, first hand knowledge of its lands and waterways. As he grew into waterfowling, Kyle quickly recognized the benefits of being able to call ducks into a decoy spread. He decided to teach himself to call and, like many of us, turned his truck cab into a rolling duck call practice booth as he drove the roads of Sutter and Butte counties. Although he's tried hunting on duck clubs, Kyle prefers to ply his craft at local refuges and enjoys meeting new folks on every outing. In addition to waterfowling, Kyle is also a passionate bass fisherman.
